Academic advisement at the Mount is based on a unique collaboration between students and their faculty and professional advisors. Instead of being limited to just one resource for guidance, students can access both advisors throughout their college career. Faculty advisors teach the First Year Experience (FYE 101) course to their advisees, and will help them register for courses and make their way through the complexities of major and core curriculum requirements. When the time comes, advisors will help them prepare for graduate study. The professional advisor collaborates with the faculty advisor to align academic study with career objectives.
Through this partnership, each student can become an independent, self-driven person who knows how to seek out and take advantage of the right resources. Whether a student is declaring or changing their major, transferring credits from a previous institution, or working to get a better understanding of what they want to do with their lives, academic advisement at the Mount offers a full-service experience that will meet every need.
