Job Coach for the Bridge Program

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City. Our beautiful 70-acre campus of rolling lawns and wooded hills overlooking the Hudson River is just 12 miles from midtown Manhattan. 

Job Description
The Bridge Program at the College of Mount Saint Vincent provides opportunities for young adults with various learning abilities to grow their skills related to academic, professional, technical, independent living and socialization in an immersive college environment. The role of the Bridge Job Coach is to provide guidance, support and direct instruction to college age students with learning differences during the internship component of the program. The Bridge Job Coach understands that students with learning differences are unique in their abilities, backgrounds, desires and needs and prepared to support them in their employment readiness skills.

Reporting to the Bridge Jobs and Internships Coordinator, this is a part-time, 10-month position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with explicit teaching of entry-level employment skills and appropriate workplace behaviors
  • Perform workplace skill assessments and data collection
  • Submit end of semester performance evaluations
  • Assist with workplace orientation and task analyses
  • Act as a liaison with workplace supervisors and Bridge administration.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to develop reasonable accommodations and modifications based on individual student needs
  • Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their job performance on an ongoing basis
  • Suggest and model appropriate social interactions with coworkers, supervisors and customers/clients
  • Address workplace problems in a timely manner, in order to maintain employer/intern satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of job coaching, or related experience
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with students with learning differences preferred
  • Understanding of job markets and employer requirements for entry-level positions
