Mount Launches New CFP® Program

Riverdale, N.Y. – Recognizing the increasing demand for skilled and ethical financial advisors, the College of Mount Saint Vincent is now offering a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification program.

“Earning the credentials to become a CFP® opens the door to an exciting and lucrative career in the financial industry,” said Nina Aversano, Chair of the Department of Accounting, Business, and Economics and Assistant Professor of Management. “Mount Saint Vincent is frequently recognized for its commitment to authentic educational opportunity and our location in New York City—just miles from the world financial center—gives us an advantage, allowing us to educate students so that they can participate in and lead this important business sector.”

Financial planners are in high demand in many fields, including finance, insurance, banking, accounting, consulting, and risk management. Advisors help clients focus on various financial aspects, such as investments, retirement planning, and student loan debt, while also helping to manage goals and create financial success.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for personal financial planners is expected to grow at a much-faster-than-average rate over the next decade, with an above-average salary of nearly $100,000 reported annually.

Approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., the College’s program offers convenient online courses delivered in eight-week terms. Students who complete the seven-course financial planning program—and who hold a bachelor’s degree in any major—will be eligible to sit for the CFP® exam.

Whether you’re about to graduate, switching careers, or want to navigate your own financial future, Mount Saint Vincent will help you put your plan in action to gain the credentials, education, and expertise to launch your career as a CFP® professional.
