About the Honoree
Frank L. Kurre
Frank Kurre is a notable industry leader, earning distinction through his service to Fortune 1000 companies, middle market public and private companies, financial institutions, and not-for-profit organizations. He currently serves as the managing partner of Grant Thornton LLP’s Metro New York and New England market territory, the largest territory of the firm. In that role, Mr. Kurre is responsible for all services provided by Grant Thornton—a leading organization of independent audit, tax, and advisory firms—to clients in eight states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Mr. Kurre previously served as national managing partner of Grant Thornton’s higher education and not-for-profit practices. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mr. Kurre was a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP.
He is a member of Grant Thornton’s Partnership Board, the firm’s governing body composed of 10 members elected by the firm’s partners and chief executive officer. He was recently elected to a second three-year term.
Mr. Kurre is a member of the board of governors of St. John’s University. He is also a member of the board of directors of Catholic Health Services of Long Island and chairman of its audit and compliance committee. He is a member of the Manhattan chapter of Legatus, a group of Catholic business leaders. Mr. Kurre also serves as an advisory member to the Accounting Practices Committee of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. He is a past member of the AICPA Executive Committee for Government Audit Quality and the Steering Committee for the annual AICPA Not-for-Profit Industry Conference. He is a frequent speaker at many national and regional conference and seminars.
Mr. Kurre received a B.S. degree in accounting from St. John’s University, summa cum laude, in 1984 and was awarded the St. John’s University President’s Silver Medal for graduating with the second highest index in the College of Business Administration. Frank also received his master’s degree in pastoral studies from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception of the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 2013 and was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Rockville Centre in May 2013.
Frank and his wife Francesca live on Long Island with their four children: Kristen, Frank, Lauren, and Michael.
