Mount Saint Vincent to Honor Two at Scholarship Tribute Dinner

The University of Mount Saint Vincent will hold its annual Scholarship Tribute Dinner on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan. The honorees will be Robert M. Callagy, Senior Partner of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP and Dennis J. Manning, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

Robert M. Callagy is a trial lawyer who has represented individual and corporate clients in a wide variety of litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country.  He has written numerous articles for various legal publications and has taught or spoken at legal symposiums and law schools throughout the country and he has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White) seven times.  Callagy is involved in numerous civic organizations.  He is a co-trustee of Resurrection Church in Rye, serves on the board of the Lauinger Library, Georgetown University, Manhattanville College and is also Chair of the Advisory Board of the Rye Free Reading room.  For 18 years he served as a member of the College’s Board of Trustees, and for last three years of his tenure was Chair of the Board.  Callagy and his wife Lynn, reside in Rye, New York where they raised their three children and are now the proud grandparents of eight.

Dennis J. Manning’s tenure as CEO of Guardian Life began January 1, 2003.  Manning became one of Guardian’s leading field salesmen after joining the company in 1983 as a General Agent based in Houston, Texas.  During his 23 years at Guardian, Manning has served as a General Agent in White Plains, N.Y., Senior and Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and President.  He is also a member of the Company’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Guardian Trust Company, FSB.  In addition to his responsibilities at Guardian, Manning  is Chair Elect of the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc., and was formerly Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Manning served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He and his wife Kathy reside in Wilton, Connecticut and are the proud parents of three children.

Callagy and Manning are among a prestigious and accomplished group that the University of Mount Saint Vincent has honored in recognition of exemplary community involvement and support of its mission.  Past Scholarship Tribute Dinner Honorees include Rosemary T. Culhane `72, Executive Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange; and former United States Attorney General and Vice President and General Counsel for Verizon Communications, Bill Barr.
