The University of Mount Saint Vincent is committed to protecting user privacy. 

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

We only collect your personal information (such as your name, address, or telephone number) if you provide it to us voluntarily. Personal information collected on mountsaintvincent.edu may be stored and processed in the United States. In limited cases, data may be stored and/or processed in other countries in which the College (and its affiliates and agents) maintain facilities and/or services. By using mountsainvincent.edu, you consent to the storage, processing, and transfer of your personal information outside your country.

To help us understand and aggregate the age, gender, and interests of visitors to the College’s website, mountsaintvincent.edu uses Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. This Google Analytics tool does not reveal your name or other identifying information to the University of Mount Saint Vincent. The College does not combine the information collected through use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. The information received from Google Analytics is used only to improve mountsaintvincent.edu and the type of information displayed on mountsaintvincent.edu to visitors so we can better serve our prospective students, their families, alumni, and friends of the College. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits by using Google Analytics’ Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Mount Saint Vincent uses data gathered about website activity (e.g., demographic data, browser type, IP address, pages visited, the day and time of visit) to target users for certain types of content, or to match up with email subscriber lists and/or to provide a better user experience. For example, to recognize new visitors to the College’s website, recognize past users, better understand the interests of users/website visitors, and to improve the website to enhance the visitor experience.

The information and services described on mountsaintvincent.edu are not intended for children under the age of 13. Mount Saint Vincent does not knowingly collect any information from children. If we learn that we have collected or received personally identifiable information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.

Interactive Features/Facebook

While the University of Mount Saint Vincent and mountsaintvincent.edu strive to protect users’ personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose online through interactive features such as forums, message boards, chat rooms, or similar services that are specifically designed to be visible to other users. You should be aware that any personally identifiable information you choose to submit via those media can be read, collected, and used by other participants and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit when you engage in such activities.

Mount Saint Vincent may also use Facebook features and tools, including pixel tags added to mountsaintvincent.edu, which enable data about actions of visitors to be sent to Facebook to track conversions and to allow Mount Saint Vincent to create custom audiences for the courses, products, or services that the College may advertise on Facebook. We may also provide Facebook with other data we have collected about you for this purpose, using Facebook tools that allow data such as email addresses and phone numbers to be locally hashed on our system before we upload and pass such data to Facebook. Facebook’s use of such data is governed by Facebook’s Data Use Policy. You can adjust Facebook ad settings, manage the interest-based advertising you receive, or completely opt-out of receiving such advertising.

Security

Mount Saint Vincent has implemented reasonable physical, technical, and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure all information we collect against loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under our control. This includes the use of encryption when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information. Please note that while we work hard to protect the security of your information, Mount Saint Vincent cannot provide an absolute guarantee regarding the security of any information you transmit through our websites or other digital properties, and you will do so at your own risk.

Third-Party Sites

Mount Saint Vincent websites and other digital properties may link to external sites that are not controlled by the College. Your use of these websites will be subject to the privacy statements of those websites, which we encourage you to read. Mount Saint Vincent is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites and does not make any representations about them.

Exceptions

Mount Saint Vincent occasionally hires other companies to provide services on our behalf. For example, to process event registrations, to send alumni announcements, and to provide you with information about upcoming events. The College will provide these companies only with the information they need to deliver the services, and where applicable, such companies will be contractually prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.

In certain circumstances, we will release specific information about you or your account to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order, or in other special cases, such as an attempted breach of the mountsaintvincent.edu security, without notice to you.

Cookie Notice

A cookie is a small piece of information sent by a web server to be stored on a web browser so that it can be read back later from that browser. The cookie is a text file saved in the browser’s directory and stored in RAM while the browser is running. The cookie may also be stored on the computer’s hard drive once a user logs off from that website or web server.
