Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator

A 3-Credit Course for UMSV Sophomores and Juniors

The Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator at the University of Mount Saint Vincent is a 3-credit course that helps sophomores, juniors, and transfer students get ready for life after college. As Braven Fellows, students build real-world skills, grow their confidence, and practice what it takes to land strong jobs or graduate school opportunities. Through hands-on projects, team challenges, and support from professional mentors, Fellows learn how to turn their goals into action. Fellows will:

  • Build a professional portfolio (e.g., resume, LinkedIn profile, cover letter)
  • Gain confidence, career skills, and connections in a small group led by a professional mentor who helps them apply what they learn to real-world challenges
  • Collaborate on a real-world group project to solve a problem posed by an employer partner—building teamwork, critical thinking, and presentation skills
  • Practice interview skills during mock interviews with professionals
  • Fulfill a Core Curriculum requirement and earn credit that counts toward graduation
  • Join a lasting community with continued access to career coaching, employer events, curated job and internship opportunities, and a national network of peers and Professionals (plus Fellows can opt into a 12-week 1:1 Professional Mentoring Program for personalized guidance!)

Who Should Enroll?

Beginning in Fall 2026, UMSV undergraduates are required to take the 3-credit Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator course, either sophomore or junior year, depending on their major.
