College to Honor Victims of 9/11

9/11/2006

The University of Mount Saint Vincent will commemorate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in several ways. Beginning at 8:46 a.m. Monday morning, the College’s bell will toll to mark the time of the first plane’s crash and again at the time that the second tower collapsed, 10:28 a.m.

At 4:00 p.m. in front of Hayes Auditorium, students, faculty, and staff will conduct a reading of the names of the victims. Members of the community will also recite readings and poetry that relate to the day. A banner will be available for those wishing to write a message, and the banner will be hung at Ground Zero that night and for the remainder of the week.

Immediately following, the Athletic Department will sponsor the Patriot Run, which will be a walk/run through the campus.

Monday evening, the College’s Residence Life staff will sponsor a program inviting students to share their thoughts and recollections of September 11, 2001.
