Former Congressman Herman Badillo to Take Part in the College’s Author Series

Badillo will read from his new book One Nation, One Standard
Herman Badillo will visit the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, January 31 to read from his new book One Nation, One Standard: An Ex-Liberal on How Hispanics Can Succeed Just Like Other Immigrant Groups. He will be introduced by New York State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz.
Badillo is a former Bronx Borough President and in 1970 became the first Puerto Rican elected to the United States Congress. He served four terms in the House of Representatives, representing the South Bronx. InOne Nation, One Standard Badillo shares his impression of the role and status of the Hispanic-American community and examines why the growing minority group has struggled in the United States. He offers a unique perspective after a life-long career in public service.
The reading will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, in the President’s Reception Room of the College’s Administration Building. The University of Mount Saint Vincent is located at 6301 Riverdale Avenue, Riverdale New York.
