Thomas L. Harrison and Maura Markus to be honored at annual gala event
The University of Mount Saint Vincent’s annual Scholarship Tribute Dinner will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street New York , NY 10017). The event will honor Thomas L. Harrison, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Diversified Agency Services division of Omnicom and Maura Markus, President of Citibank North America.
Thomas Harrison is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the largest and fastest growing unit within Omnicom, Diversified Agency Services (DAS). DAS is one of the world’s largest advertising and marketing services organization and provides a broad range of marketing communications services, such as public relations, crisis management, branding, sales promotion, and customer relationship management to more than 5000 clients worldwide. In 2005 Harrison released his first book, Instinct: Tapping Your Entrepreneurial DNA to Achieve Your Business Goals. Harrison serves on a number of boards including Montefiore Hospital, the New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and ePocrates, a healthcare information company. He also serves as the Chairman of the Dean’s Council at The Steinhardt School of Education at NYU and is a member of the New York University Campaign Steering Committee, the President’s Council at Tulane University School of Medicine, and is a Trustee at The Kent School, a New England Preparatory School.
Maura Markus is President of Citibank North America, one of the nations most successful and respected financial institutions. Citibank North America serves 5 million consumers and 300,000 small business clients. Markus also serves as a member of the Citigroup Management Committee and the Global Consumer Planning Group. Markus began her career with Citibank in 1987 and has held various management positions in consumer banking in both the U.S. and Europe. She has been recognized by numerous organizations for her professional and personal contributions. She has been recognized by US Banker as a “Woman to Watch” and as one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Banking.” She currently serves on the Executive Board of Directors of Junior Achievement where she was recognized as the 2004 Business Leader of the Year and also serves on the Board of Catholic Charities.
Harrison and Markus are among a prestigious and accomplished group that the University of Mount Saint Vincent has honored in recognition of exemplary community involvement and support of its mission. Culhane `72, Executive Vice President of the New York Stock Exchange; and former United States Attorney General and Vice President and General Counsel for Verizon Communications, Bill Barr; and Dennis J. Manning, President and Chief Executive Office of the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America .
