CMSV to Host “The Mount Creates” Performing Arts Showcase April 29 – May 1, 2011

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent presents “The Mount Creates,” a showcase of performing arts on campus, featuring works by the CMSV Players, the student theatre group; Flava, a student dance group; and Words, a modern student dance group, from April 29, 2011 through May 1, 2011 in Hayes Auditorium and Smith Hall on the College’s Riverdale campus.
The showcase begins Friday, April 29, in Hayes Auditorium with a dance performance starting at 5:30 p.m. by Words, followed by a production of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” performed by the CMSV Players at 8:30 p.m. Saturday’s festivities begin with a 1 p.m. matinee dance performance of “Heaven vs. Hell,” followed by a 4:00 p.m. showing of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” performed by CMSV Players. At 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Flava will present its annual show “Escapade 2011: Sin City Asylum,” in Smith Hall. The weekend concludes with a 2 p.m. showing of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” on Sunday, May 1, 2011.
Tickets to the weekend events will be $5 for students with a valid student ID and $7 for adults. Guests may purchase a $15 pass, which is valid for all events Saturday. A portion of the proceeds will benefit “Because the University of Mount Saint Vincent Cares,” a College-sponsored fundraiser for relief to victims of the Japan earthquake. All monies raised will be donated to Catholic Relief Services.
