College of Mount Saint Vincent to Host Riverdale RiverFest 2011

6/6/2011

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent is pleased to partner with Friends of the Hudson River Greenway to host the second annual Riverdale RiverFest on Sunday, June 12, 2011 on its scenic Riverdale campus on the Hudson River.

This year’s event features an expanded waterfront program to give guests a chance to experience the Hudson River up close on the College’s sprawling 70-acre waterfront campus. The festival includes additional boat rides on Saturday afternoon prior to the event, in addition to expanded rides, music and entertainment on Sunday. Three sailing vessels, the Mystic Whaler and the tugboats Pegasus and Cornell, will offer multiple rides on Saturday afternoon, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, 2011. In addition, the Waterfront Museum Barge will occupy a space at the temporary dock adjacent to Marillac Lawn and will be open on both days. The John J. Harvey antique fireboat will demonstrate its water cannons off-shore, within view of all festival attendees.

“The University of Mount Saint Vincent is pleased to partner with the Bronx chapter of Friends of the Hudson River Greenway to offer local residents unique waterfront access to the fun and education activities that Riverdale RiverFest’s programming and the College’s waterfront setting provides,” says Dr. Charles L. Flynn, president of the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
