College of Mount Saint Vincent MBA Students Collaborate with Level 3 Telecommunications to Offer Practical Business Solutions
9/14/2011
Riverdale, N.Y. – University of Mount Saint Vincent MBA students recently completed a nine-month collaboration with Colorado-based telecommunications company Level 3. Over the course of the program, students studied multiple aspects of the telecommunications industry and were assigned specific strategic projects to research as part of this practical collaboration that exposed MBA students to actual issues that firms such as Level 3 are facing.
The six-student team was led by Dr. Nina Aversano, assistant professor of management at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. The team presented their findings to the company, a leading international Internet-services provider, on August 25. The students’ work, which was well-received by members of Level 3 senior management, allowed them to apply their MBA coursework to real-world business challenges and present viable solutions.
“The team delivered extremely well-researched and thoughtfully developed ideas to support Level 3’s strategic direction,” said Robert Kaps, vice president and general manager of the Northeast region for Level 3. “They added real value.”
