3/31/2014

Riverdale, NY – The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Westchester Branch will co-host the eleventh annual “Explore Your Opportunities – The Sky’s the Limit!” Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference for seventh grade girls at the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Riverdale campus on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The conference aims to provide young women with opportunities to meet and interact with positive female role models who are active in STEM fields, and to foster a greater awareness of career opportunities. Members of the AAUW invite students to choose from 16 different hands-on workshops that cover a variety of STEM topics through interactive learning.

Since its inception, the conference has hosted more than 1,500 seventh grade girls. The conference is expected to draw roughly 200 young women from New York City and Westchester. During the conference, parents and educators can partake in an entertaining and informative workshop, followed by a town hall discussion about careers and higher education opportunities.
