American Association of University Women Co-Host Tenth Annual “Explore Your Opportunities – The Sky’s the Limit!” Conference at College of Mount Saint Vincent March 16, 2013

Riverdale, NY – The Westchester Branch of American Association of University Women will co-host the tenth annual “Explore Your Opportunities – The Sky’s the Limit!” Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference for seventh grade girls at the University of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The conference aims to provide young women with opportunities to meet and interact with positive female role models who are active in STEM (science, technology, mathematics and engineering) fields and to foster a greater awareness of career opportunities these fields. Members of AAUW invite girls to choose from 15 different hands-on workshops that cover a variety of STEM topics.  The conference is designed to create positive experiences in STEM through engaging interactive learning.

Since its inception, the conference has hosted more than 1,500 seventh grade girls. The 10th annual “Explore Your Opportunities – The Sky’s The Limit!” conference is expected to draw roughly 200 young women from New York City and Westchester. During the conference, parents and educators can partake in an entertaining and informative workshop, followed by a town hall discussion about careers in STEM fields and higher education opportunities.
