Channel 7 “Tiempo” Features Science Faculty and Students at the Mount

Interview Centers on CMSV as #1 in the Nation for Graduating Latino Students in STEM Fields

Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Ioanna Visviki, and Biology majors Alexandria Bobe ’11, and Ana Uruena ’11, were interviewed by Joe Torres of WABC 7 on his show Tiempo. The broadcast took place on Sunday, February 28th. The program highlighted student achievement in a recent study funded by the National Science Foundation which cited the College as # 1 in the nation for graduating Latino students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Tiempo is a weekly program on WABC dedicated to discussing issues related to the Hispanic community.

Both Ana Uruena and Alexandria Bobe have been active students on and off campus. Ana has been an intern at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This summer she will be conducting research at MIT. She is President of the Science Club and a member of the Mount MDs. Alex has conducted research at Albert Einstein Medical Center, is President of the Environmental Club, and is a member of the Mount MDs. Dr. Visviki has been teaching at the Mount for 16 years.
