College of Mount Saint Vincent Student Advocates Rally for Student Aid

2/9/2015

Riverdale, N.Y. – Student advocates from the University of Mount Saint Vincent will join some 900 participants from more than 60 colleges, universities, and opportunity program groups from across New York State on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Legislative Office Building in Albany, N.Y., to show support for student aid funding and higher education.

Annually, more than 370,000 students depend on state student aid programs to achieve their college aspirations. In the past 40 years, more than five million New York State students have received state aid to help meet their college expenses.

New York Student Aid Alliance Advocacy Day (NYSAA) allows students attending college in New York State to join faculty, financial aid and opportunity program administrators and other staff, as well as higher education policymakers and staff, in thanking legislators for supporting student aid programs. The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Grad TAP, the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the Science and Technology Entry programs (STEP/C-STEP), and the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) are among the programs that help make quality education more accessible to all students in New York State.

The NYSAA is a coalition of New York State public and private campuses, their students, and stakeholder organizations who support the funding of vital student aid programs for students in New York State. For more information, please visit: www.nystudentaidalliance.org

As part of their engagement with matters affecting their educational experience, Mount students annually attend Advocacy Day, reminding legislators how important student aid programs are to N.Y.’s future.
