College of Mount Saint Vincent Adopts Local Families for the Holidays

12/15/2010

Faculty, staff and administrators at the University of Mount Saint Vincent adopted 13 local families for the holidays. For the second consecutive year, the Office of Campus Ministry & Mission organized a campaign to provide gifts tailored to the specifications of families that were selected by the Sisters of Charity at two local parishes in the North Bronx and Yonkers. Last year, the College adopted three local families.

“This tradition, embraced by varying College groups over different periods of time, is an example of ‘living the Mission,’” said Maureen Russell, director of Mission. “In these difficult times, it’s an opportunity for us to unite in a rewarding activity that will bring great joy and the true spirit of Christmas to others—and to us.”
In addition, the Office of Campus Ministry is sponsoring a toy drive that will benefit families of St. Joseph’s Parish in Yonkers. Student-athletes from the College will be delivering the toys and the family wish lists to St. Joseph’s Parish on Friday, Dec. 17.
