College of Mount Saint Vincent Honors Class of 2008

Commencement Ceremony May 17th, 2008

Riverdale, NY – The University of Mount Saint Vincent honored its graduates today with its annual commencement ceremony. Commencement for the class of 2008 took place on River Lawn in front of the Administration Building at 10:30 a.m.  Students received Bachelor’s Degrees in Arts and Science as well as Master’s Degrees in Science.  They accepted them in front of an audience of family and friends.

Edward Zukowski, Jr., Professor of Religious Studies was the marshal of the procession leading graduates down the lawn into the tent.  Charles Flynn, Jr., President of the College, presided over the activities and the conferring of honors.  Trina Gordon, of Boyden World Corporation, delivered the commencement speech and was presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree.  She was introduced by Kyria Rousseau, President of the Student Government.

Br. Daniel Adams, newly appointed Dean of the Undergraduate College, presented awards to recipients:  Robert Coleman was awarded the Bene Merenti Medal,  Georgina Nieves – the Cardinal Cooke Memorial Award for Academic Excellence, Kaja Mpoyi – the Marjorie Connelly Memorial Award for adult education, Marissa Ann Rega – the Sister Doris Smith Award for core curriculum, Scott Andrew Siegel – the John XXIII Award for leadership, and Marissa Ann Rega –  the Margaret Catterson McKee Award for service.

This was the ninety-sixth annual commencement the college has held.
