College of Mount Saint Vincent Hosts Latino College Fair

Free “Paying for College” Workshop and $500 Scholarship – Oct. 25
On Saturday, October 25, the University of Mount Saint Vincent will hold a Latino College Fair. The fair is open to all Latino students who are interested in gathering more information about college, learning about receiving financial aid, and finding out how to navigate the application process. The fair is presented jointly by the College, the Sallie Mae Fund, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Bronx Assembly Delegation.
This event is free and open to the public and media. The fair will begin with welcome remarks from Assemblyman Peter Rivera of the 76th Assembly District. A “Paying for College Workshop” and a preview workshop on how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be presented to those in attendance. Both workshops will also be offered in Spanish. Financial aid experts will be available for a Question and Answer session. Spanish translation has been arranged and will be available for free. Junior or senior students can enter to win a $500 scholarship from The Sallie Mae Fund.
Prospective college students will have the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors from 24 colleges and discuss admission requirements with their representatives. Admissions personnel from the University of Mount Saint Vincent will be on hand to answer questions about the Mount. “The Latino College Fair at the University of Mount Saint Vincent is an outstanding opportunity to learn about the admission and financial aid process at various colleges in New York,” says Tim Nash, Vice-President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. “Each student will discover that college can be affordable.”

Paying-for-College Workshop: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
FAFSA Preview Workshop: 3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

The University of Mount Saint Vincent is located at Riverdale Ave. and 263rd St. and is easily reached by car via the Henry Hudson Parkway or major Deegan Expressway and by public transportation via the “A” Train- #7 Bus combination or the #1 Train- #7, or #10 Bus combination.
