College of Mount Saint Vincent Launches New B.A. in Visual Arts and Experimental Media

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will launch a new interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree program in Visual Arts and Experimental Media. The program will feature a range of cutting-edge, experimental courses in visual arts, electronic art and media, photography, video art, and sound arts.

Spearheaded by Associate Professor of Communication and Media Ted Kafala and Associate Professor of Fine Arts Enrico Giordano, the program will bridge conceptual, historical, multicultural, and experimental approaches to art and media practices and production.

“Courses are offered by both fine arts and communication faculty in an effort to bring together knowledge of new media techniques with an individualized aesthetic,” Chair of the Department of Fine Arts Emily Engel says. “Courses in photography, Photoshop, video art, sound engineering – multimedia courses to expose students to every aspect of production, from the most technical to the most creative.”

The Program will provide students with the unparalleled internship opportunities of New York City, including arts organizations and foundations, design agencies, and media houses. Students will have access to the College’s state-of-the-art facilities, including visual arts studios, a digital media lab, a post-production lab, a ceramics and sculpture studio, and multiple performance studios.
