College of Mount Saint Vincent Presents Rev. John D. Catoir on How To “Enjoy The Lord” for the Annual Lenten Lecture Feb. 22, 2012

2/20/2012

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent Center presents “Enjoy The Lord,” with Rev. John T. Catoir, J.C.D., for its annual Lenten Lecture at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the President’s Reception Room, Founders Hall, on the College’s Riverdale campus.

Father Catoir will address the difficulty most people have in being joyful, despite joy being well within our reach. Father Catoir will discuss how contemplative prayer is the path to the joy we seek. His talk will illustrate how contemplative prayer leads to a sense of self-worth and inner happiness, which makes joy possible. The kind of contemplation Father Catoir recommends is not an abstraction, but rather an everyday reality for those who are willing to make the effort.

He is founder and president of the St. Jude Media Ministry, a national apostolate that uses radio and TV to reach out to the millions of secular people in America. Born and raised in New York City, Father Catoir graduated from Fordham University in 1953. After two years in the U.S. Army, he entered Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington, New Jersey, and was ordained a priest in 1960.

Father Catoir earned his Doctorate of Canon Law from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He has written 15 books, including the best sellers, Enjoy The Lord, World Religions, and most recently, God Delights In You: An Introduction to Gospel Spirituality. He is also a syndicated columnist for Catholic News Service. He hosted the nationally syndicated weekly television series “Christopher Closeup,” for more than 17 years.
