College of Mount Saint Vincent Presents “Spirituality of Beauty” Lecture on Ash Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will present “Spirituality of Beauty,” welcoming Father Anthony Ciorra, Ph.D., for an evening of reflection on Ash Wednesday, to explore finding God in new ways for the 21st century, on February 13, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the President’s Reception Room as an introduction to the Lenten season.

Fr. Ciorra, who was ordained a priest in 1973, is currently Assistant Vice President for Mission and Catholic Identity and Professor of Theology at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. He has a certificate in Spiritual Direction, graduate degrees in Psychology, History, and Pastoral Theology and a doctoral degree in Theology from Fordham University.

His publications include Everyday Mysticism, a book about spirituality in the marketplace, Moral Formation in the Parish, a work he co-authored about living Christian and moral values in the world, and his most recent publication, A Spirituality of Beauty: A New Pathway to God for the twenty-first century.

In recognition of his ministry in the Church, he was given the pontifical honor Pro Eccelsia et Pontifice by Pope John Paul II in 1999. He was awarded the Caritas Centennial Award in 2000 for his work in lay ministry and the Spirit of Renew Award for his work in interreligious dialogue and ecumenism.
