College of Mount Saint Vincent Ranked One of Nation’s Top Master Degree-Granting Institutions by Washington Monthly Magazine

8/30/2011

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent has once again been listed as one of the top master degree-granting universities for 2011 by Washington Monthly magazine.

This year, the University of Mount Saint Vincent has received an overall ranking of #272, up from its rating of #290 in 2010, based upon the magazine’s criteria for excellence across a range of measures. The 2011 Master’s University Rankings list is based upon each school’s contribution to the public in three categories: social mobility, research and service.

Each of these three factors is relative to each school’s population and is weighted equally in the overall ranking of each institution, according to Washington Monthly. To measure each institution in terms of social mobility for its graduates, Washington Monthly uses its formula to predict the graduation rate given each schools percentage of Pell Grant-receiving students and their SAT average score.
