College Promotes Haitian Relief Fund through its Charity, Concern Worldwide

2/12/2010

The offices of Campus Ministry, Student Government and Student Affairs at the University of Mount Saint Vincent have launched a campus-wide response to Haitian relief in cooperation with the College’s charity, Concern Worldwide. Crisis experts agree that the quickest and most efficient way to help the Haitian community is to fund organizations providing humanitarian assistance in that country. Concern Worldwide is already on the ground in Haiti with supplies and volunteers. A fund raising goal of $5,000 has been set for the spring semester.

Jars adorned with the CMSV CONCERN logo have been stationed throughout the campus. Students, faculty and administrators have been asked to donate to the relief effort. The jars can be found in Campus Ministry, Student Affairs, and Benedict’s Café, where the Sisters of Charity fund raising jar is now supporting Haitian relief. Checks can be sent to the University of Mount Saint Vincent written with the memo line: Haiti. Several fundraising events are currently being planned.

Said Dianna Dale, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, “As our relief campaign continues throughout the semester, my office will keep the community apprised of the various campus events that will focus on Haitian relief fund raising and our fundraising levels. We thank you, as always, for your generosity and caring.”
