Distinguished Attorneys Visit Mount Saint Vincent

Patrick and Ian McGinley present at ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent welcomed attorneys, and father-son duo, Patrick and Ian McGinley for the discussion, “Diverse Careers in Law,” on Thursday, November 12 in the President’s Reception Room.

The presentation was part of the College’s successful and popular ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series, whereby Mount students meet with acclaimed industry leaders to ask questions and engage in deep discussions on a variety of topics.

A member of the Bar for over 50 years, Attorney Patrick McGinley currently serves Of Counsel at Sullivan, Hayes & Quinn, LLC. He has served on the New York State Supreme Court, in the New York City Criminal Court, and as a former New York City Commissioner of Investigation. Additionally, he’s held positions as a prosecutor, a litigator, and an Administrative Law Judge for the Waterfront Commission of N.Y. Harbor. He is married renowned endocrinologist, Dr. Julianne Imperato-McGinley, who is an alumna. Dr. Imperato-McGinley ’61 also presented at a ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series in 2013, was the College’s Commencement speaker in 2012, and was honored at the Ad Laudem Dei ceremony in 2008.

Their son, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ian McGinley, works to prosecute cases involving terrorism and narcotics. In this position, he has coordinated efforts internationally to solve various cases, with organizations including the United Kingdom’s Security Service, MI5. Mr. McGinley also successfully led the prosecution in the conviction of London cleric Mustafa Kamel Mustafa for providing support to al-Qaeda.

Patrick and Ian McGinley are two of many distinguished guest speakers to participate in the College’s ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series, which connects students with today’s thought leaders, allowing them to gain industry knowledge and unique career insights firsthand.
