4/9/2018

Riverdale, N.Y. – Cynthia Meyers, Associate Professor of Communication, will discuss advertising with author Mara Einstein at 6:30 p.m. on April 11, 2018 in the Program Room of the Mid-Manhattan branch of the New York Public Library. The event is free and open to the public.

The conversation will focus on the ways in which “big data” advertising is infiltrating our lives in more ways than we realize. Dr. Meyers is the author of “A Word from Our Sponsor: Admen, Advertising, and the Golden Age of Radio” and has written on topics including social media influencers, 1960s television commercials, and branded content. Mara Einstein, professor of media studies and director of the graduate program in media and social justice at Queens College, is the author of “Advertising: What Everyone Needs to Know,” in which she demonstrated how the consumers’ social and political impulses are formed by brands and what they represent.
