Mount Raises Nearly Half a Million Dollars at Scholarship Tribute Dinner

4/30/2018

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent hosted its annual Scholarship Tribute Dinner at Cipriani 25 Broadway on April 23, raising nearly $500,000 toward scholarship funds for talented and deserving students. The evening is the Mount’s signature fundraising event and celebrates the College’s yearlong effort to ensure each student’s potential is defined by his or her ambitions, not their financial means.

This year, the College honored two individuals for their strength of character, leadership, business acumen, and devotion to the common good: super broker Dolly Lenz, CEO and Founder of Dolly Lenz Real Estate LLC, and underwriting executive Steven M. Menzies, President and Co-Founder of Applied Underwriters, Inc.

“We all want to help and give back,” said Ms. Lenz during her remarks. “What better institution could there be than Mount Saint Vincent? Thank you for this opportunity—I’m looking forward to working with the Sisters…and raising lots more for this organization that so well deserves it.”

In accepting his honor, Mr. Menzies addressed the work of the College and its commitment to provide transformative educational experiences for all students.

“The mission of the College and the mission of Applied Underwriters share some commonalities: Each serves a higher societal purpose through its endeavors; each centers on a mission of care; each betters those we touch; and each stands on the firm ground of high standards and principle action.”

The Scholarship Tribute Dinner allows the College to recognize the generosity of scholarship donors and the recipients of their awards.

All proceeds from the gala directly support scholarships and financial aid programs, providing students the best academic opportunities available, regardless of economic background.
