Mount Saint Vincent Announces Reunion/Homecoming and Family Weekend
Campus-wide celebration will be held October 16-18
Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent will celebrate its first-ever Fall Reunion Weekend, Friday, October 16 through Sunday, October 18. This year, the Mount has combined the annual event with Homecoming and Family Weekend. Alumnae/i are invited to connect with fellow classmates, visit faculty, meet current students and families, cheer for the Mount’s athletic teams, and learn more about the College’s wonderful and expanding programs, among many other events and activities. During Reunion Weekend, the College will celebrate all alumnae/i, especially classes that end in “0” and “5” (from 1945 to 2010). There will be a special tribute to the Class of 1965, celebrating their 50th anniversary, and the Class of 1990, celebrating their 25th anniversary.
Many events are planned throughout Reunion Weekend, including a welcome BBQ, Coffee with the President, a Reunion Mass, a performance of Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Red-Headed League by one of the College’s in-residency arts organizations, Red Monkey Theater Group, and an off-campus event for young alumnae/i at the Norwood Club in New York City, among others. There will be class gatherings and presentations, including one on how to negotiate, presented by attorney and author Carol Frohlinger ’75. There will also be a panel on human trafficking, featuring James Donius, Ph.D., Director of the College’s new Fishlinger Center for Public Policy Research. Dr. Donius will present the results of the Center’s landmark study on social issues, which will include a discussion by student leaders and activists who are engaged in anti-trafficking efforts.
Alumnae/i will have the opportunity to watch some of the men’s and women’s athletic teams take on the competition with home field advantage. The men’s and women’s soccer teams will compete against St. Joseph’s College and NJCU on Saturday on the Mount’s athletic field, while the women’s volleyball team will host The Sage Colleges and Yeshiva University on Sunday in the Peter Jay Sharp Athletic and Recreation Center. Additionally, attendees are invited to the Reunion/Homecoming BBQ and Family Day festivities on the Great Lawn on Saturday, which includes face painting, photo booths, music, and more. At the festival, alumnae/i will have the opportunity to meet with different Mount clubs and organizations, including the Princess Project, a new student organization on campus allowing Mount students to volunteer at children’s hospitals.
There will also be plenty of time for alumnae/i to relax and catch up with old friends and classmates. This year’s Reunion/Homecoming and Family Weekend invites guests to its Riverdale campus, to celebrate with students, alumnae/i, families and supporters of the College, administrators, faculty, and staff. For those alumnae/i who wish to stay close to campus for all of the weekend’s events, arrangements have been made at local hotels, with shuttle services to campus.
All alumnae/i are welcome and encouraged to attend Reunion/Homecoming and Family Weekend. For more information, please contact the Office of Alumnae/i Relations and Giving at (718) 405-3334, or please visit mountsaintvincent.edu/reunion.
