Mount Saint Vincent to Host Health Care Forum

2/19/2016

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will host a Health Care Management Forum in the Back Room of Hudson Heights on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 4 p.m. The forum will highlight available career options in health care management and will provide information about health care degree options at the College.

The Mount currently offers health care management as a minor through the Department of Accounting, Business, and Economics, providing undergraduate students the opportunity to learn more about the United States’ health care systems. Courses include Hospital and Health Care Management and Health Care Finance, among others. The College’s School of Professional and Graduate Studies (SPGS) offers health care management as a concentration in the MBA program, which prepares students for general management positions in a variety of health care agencies. Additionally, SPGS offers an M.S. in Nursing Administration, which includes such classes as Ethics and Health Care Policy, Foundations of Health Care, and Law for Health Care Professionals.

The forum will also feature a panel presentation with management professionals in the field, including Ulrich Rosa, Sam Germana, and Josephine Catalano.

  • Ulrich Rosa, an executive and educator in health care and higher education, has extensive background experience in operations, fiscal and resource management, service, redesign, community relations, and education. He has served in numerous leadership positions in the health care industry and is currently a faculty member at the College.
  • Sam Germana, an attorney, currently serves as Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth N.J. He oversees and coordinates all legal matters and activities, including compliance, contracts, and patient care, and is also a faculty member at the College.
  • Josephine Catalano, Director of Volunteer Services at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale by RiverSpring Health, interacts with the numerous volunteers who serve within the institution, which has helped thousands of older adults live full lives through quality care and technological innovations. She organizes volunteer opportunities and manages existing volunteers, while adhering and sharing knowledge of hospital policies and health care industry regulations.

The event is sponsored by the Student Government Association, the Center for Academic Advisement and the Oxley Career Education Program, and the Department of Accounting, Business, and Economics.
