Red Monkey Theater Group Concludes Its Season of Sisters at CMSV with “Crimes of the Heart”

3/28/2014

Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG), the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s theater company-in-residence, is proud to present “Crimes of the Heart,” Beth Henley’s strange, moving, and brilliant southern gothic comedy. Performances are April 5,6,10,11, and 12, Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the College’s Cahill Theater. As part of CMSV’s Siblings Weekend, siblings of Mount students can buy $10 tickets for the Sunday, April 6 showing.

The play tells the story of the three Magrath Sisters, reunited in the Hazelhurst, Mississippi home of their grandfather in the midst of a family crisis.

“Crimes of the Heart” is a great climax to our season-long exploration of the joys and pains of sisterhood,” says RTMG Artistic Director Tal Aviezer. “This intimately-staged production in the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Cahill Theater will bring audiences right into the Magrath’s kitchen and into the midst of their very funny and very moving story.”

The production is directed by Katy Baker and features Holland Renton as Lenny Magrath, Maria de Vries as Meg Magrath, Jackie Petrak as Babe Botrell, Matthew Hansen as Barnette Lloyd, Amelia Huckle-Bfauer as Chick Boyle, and Joe Laureiro as Doc Porter.

Tickets are currently on sale at www.redmonkeytheater.org ($20 general admission, $15 students and seniors, free for University of Mount Saint Vincent students and staff with ID).
