Red Monkey Theater Group Opens 2014-2015 Season with “Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Speckled Band”

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent’s resident theater company, Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG), will present Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Speckled Band October 4 through October 18 in the College’s Cahill Theater. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. All shows are free for University of Mount Saint Vincent students and staff with ID.

The play is an adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mystery, and is directed by RMTG’s managing director, Holland Renton. The performances will also feature live period music performed by Curtis Becraft.

“This intimately-staged production in the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Cahill Theater will bring audiences right into 221B Baker Street and the heart of an exciting an mysterious adventure,” says RMTG artistic director, Tal Aviezer, who stars as Sherlock Holmes.

In addition to Tal Aviezer, the play also features Joe Laureiro as Dr. John Watson, Tsebiyah Mishael Derry as Helen Stonor, Elliott Robison as Dr. Grimsby Roylott, Elizabeth Mialaret as Mrs. Hudson, and Amelia Huckle-Bauer as Julia Stonor.

Sherlock Holmes: The Adventure of the Speckled Band is the first production in RMTG’s 2014-2015 “Season Among Friends,” a four-play exploration of the theme of male friendship that also includes a January 2015 production of William Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona featuring an all-female cast, a February 2015 production of Art by Yasmina Reza, and an April 2015 production of Laughter on the 23rd Floor by Neil Simon.
