Red Monkey Theater Group Presents Julius Caesar

3/21/2016

Riverdale, N.Y. – Mount Saint Vincent’s resident theater company, Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG), will present Julius Caesar, April 2 through April 16 in the College’s Cahill Theater. This will be the final production of RMTG’s 2015-2016 “Season of Truth and Lies.” Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. All shows are free for University of Mount Saint Vincent students and staff with College ID.

The play is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, and is directed by RMTG’s artistic director, Tal Aviezer. The tale of loyalty, betrayal, ambition, and intrigue features a cast of eight actors who will assume multiple roles. The cast includes Julie Thaxter-Gourlay, Tal Aviezer, Matt Gordon, Holland Renton, Kelly Kirby, Zoey Rutherford, Sandra Ehrlich, and Sean Leigh. Select performances will include live preshow music by violinist Viola Wang.

The matinee performance on Sunday, April 10, will be followed by a complimentary post-performance discussion with the cast led by Tal Aviezer. Additionally, the theater group is offering a free 90-minute workshop on Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in Cahill Theater, wherein Mr. Aviezer will work with participants on how to navigate Shakespearean scenes and monologues, explore Elizabethan language, make dramatic choices, and bring characters to life. The workshop is free and open to the public. To register, please email: info@redmonkeytheater.org.

This program is funded, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
