Red Monkey Theater Group Presents Variety Show

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent’s resident theater company, Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG), will present The Red Monkey Variety Show, Saturday, December 5 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 6 at 2 p.m. The special weekend benefit celebration of music, dance, theater, food, and more, will be held in Cahill Theater. Both shows are free for University of Mount Saint Vincent students and staff with College ID.

Complimentary appetizers, courtesy of Bella Cucina Maria, will be served as audience members enjoy a lineup featuring “Boise, Idaho,” a one-act comedy by Sean Michael Welch directed by Rachel Tamarin; “The Magic Barrel,” an original dramatic adaptation of the short story by Bernard Malamud directed by RMTG Artistic Director Tal Aviezer; “The Doctor Will See You Now,” a clowning piece by Emma Miller; “Enclosed,” a modern dance piece by (Alex)andra Taylor Dance; scenes from Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” directed by Amelia Huckel-Bauer; as well as live musical performances and more.

The Red Monkey Variety Show is the second performance of Red Monkey Theater Group’s 2015-2016 “Season of Truth and Lies,” exploring the themes of betrayal, trust, deception, and revelation. This season also includes a February 2016 production of Becky Shaw by Gina Gionfriddo, and an April 2016 production of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.
