Mount Saint Vincent to Celebrate Founders Day
4/12/2018
Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will celebrate Founders Day with campus-wide events on Wednesday, April 18, 2017. The event marks the anniversary of the charter that established the academically excellent, authentically inclusive, independent liberal arts college.
Originally founded as the Academy of Mount Saint Vincent in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of New York, the Trustees of the University of the State of New York amended the charter in 1911, creating the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Dedicated to the Catholic tradition and the principles of ecumenism, the College combines a strong core curriculum with a full array of majors in the liberal arts selected professional fields of study.
In the spirit of Vincent de Paul and Elizabeth Ann Seton, the College upholds its commitment to foster an understanding of our common humanity, a commitment to human dignity, and a full appreciation of our obligations to each other.
