Mount Saint Vincent Student Researchers Present at Annual Sigma Xi Conference

Riverdale, N.Y. β The Division of Natural Sciences at the University of Mount Saint Vincent sponsored 22 students to attend the 2015 Northeast Regional Sigma Xi Research Conference hosted at Western Connecticut State University on April 18.
Sigma Xi, the oldest scientific research society in the world, hosts the annual conference to provide an opportunity for students and professional researchers to share scholarly accomplishments and to network with other Sigma Xi participants from the Northeastern U.S.
Student researchers representing the College were Alek Torres β16, Xavier Salce β15, Jade Suleiman β17, Chare Sanders β15, Shyan Lovell β15, Giovanni Russo β17, Valerie Khayyo β15, Shadi Khayyo β17, Dorina Ismailgeci β16, Bernardo Garcia β15, Colby Landeen β15, Rachel Gabriel β16, Jhane Figueroa β15, William Aqeel β15, Alejandro Moreno β15, Dwaine Pryce β15, Rachel Daniel β16, Vincent Lombardo β16, Iryna Koziy β16, Kavita Bharrat β15, Marielle Villanobos β17, and Nicholas Malizia β17.
Ms. Khayyo won second place for her research poster, which focused in the area of physical sciences and earth sciences.
The students presented research they have been conducting under the direction of Mount faculty, including Janet Rollins, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Pamela Kerrigan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Daniel Amarante, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Ana Ribeiro, Assistant Professor of Biology, James Fabrizio, Associate Professor of Biology, and Ioanna Visviki, Associate Professor of Biology.
