Moment of Magic Hosts Benefit Fashion Show at the Mount

12/7/2017

Riverdale, N.Y. – Mount Saint Vincent’s chapter of A Moment of Magic is hosting the Runway of Magic Fashion Show to benefit 18 children fighting cancer, survivors, and their siblings, on Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. in Smith Hall. The event will allow participants—who will come from New York, New Jersey, and Washington D.C.—to dress as Disney princesses and superheroes as they walk the runway with famous characters such as Ariel from A Little Mermaid, Anna from Frozen, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, and Pocahontas, among many others.

The fashion show will feature members from the College’s chapter, including Ashley Clayton ’18, Christina Prendergast ’18, Meghan McLaughlin ’18, Carol Santo ’19, Alexa Moley ’19, Alyssa Pipitone ’20, Angeline Alvarez ’19, and Anny Rodriguez ’18, as well as Kelsey Wasnesky ‘18 of the Women’s Soccer team, Andrew Curiel ’18 of the Men’s Basketball team, Michael Kochen ’19 of the Men’s Baseball team, and Tim Beck ‘19 of the Men’s Lacrosse team. Damarcus Williams ’18, Student Government Association president, will serve as the Runway of Magic host.

“A Moment of Magic originated at the Mount, and to keep this going where it started is magical,” said Ms. Clayton, president of the College’s A Moment of Magic chapter. “We have had the honor of meeting so many amazing children over the past couple of years and to be able to bring them here for a special day is amazing. We are fortunate to have these brave children and their families welcome us in their lives. This is just one way of saying thank you in return for letting us be part of their journey.”

The event is open to the entire Mount community. Admission is $10 and enters attendees into a raffle for a chance to win a trip to Aruba. Mount Saint Vincent’s chapter will use all proceeds from tickets and additional donations raised during the event toward sponsoring an upcoming trip to visit sick children in Washington D.C. They will also use funds to create care packages with toys, snow makers, and princess dresses for children the princesses can’t reach.
