RMTG Presents All-Female Shakespeare Production

Red Monkey Theater Group (RMTG)—Mount Saint Vincent’s resident theater company—presents an all-female production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Saturday, October 5 through Sunday, October 13 in Cahill Theater.

Performances are October 5, 11, and 12 at 8 p.m. and October 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. The performance on Sunday, October 6 will be followed by a complimentary Q&A with the director and cast. Performances are free for all Mount Saint Vincent students and staff with College ID.

Mount alumna Mikaela-Rose Blanchard ’19—who worked on the RMTG production team as a student, on shows including Macbeth and The Seagull—is the stage manager for RMTG’s production of Shakespeare’s last comedy, a hilarious, bittersweet masterpiece filled with grand celebrations and intimate secrets. The production will be set in the 19th century and will feature an all-female cast and original music composed by Lauren Anker, performed live, with period costumes by Carolyn J. Fuchs.

Following a sold-out run at Bartow-Pell Mansion-Museum in Pelham Bay Park, the production comes to the Mount for two weekends only. The cast includes Jessica Carmona, Sandra Ehrlich, Ariel Francoeur, Emma Freeman, Amy Frey, Abigail Getty, Julie Thaxter-Gourlay, Holly Jian, Kimberly Lowden, Zoey Rutherford, and Rachel Schulte.

Twelfth Night is the opening production in RMTG’s 21st season, “A Season of Difficult Women,” which highlights a collection of plays about women who do not conform to social, professional, and political expectations.

Up next for RMTG at the Mount: Dungeons and Monkeys: A Charity Gaming Event set for November 9 in Cahill Theater.
