Mount Students selected by Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Mount students Alexandria Bobe ’11, and David Guerrero ’11, were selected by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University to take part in their summer program known as the Minority Student Summer Research Opportunity. This program is designed for undergraduate student minorities who have been underrepresented in research careers in biomedical or biological sciences.

Students participating in the program will conduct research under the direction of a faculty member. At the end of the 9 week period, program students will have the opportunity to present their work to their peers and faculty at a poster session.

Alexandria and David are both sophomores at the College who major in Biology and are on the Pre-Med track. David, who has been doing research at the college since his freshman year, states, “The guidance provided by professors at the College has been very influential. You are recognized and sent in the right direction.”

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine provides 9 weeks of experience and participation in biomedical research. In order to qualify for this program students must be at the time of application are either a sophomore or a junior, have taken at least one year of biology and general chemistry with laboratory, and have at least a 3.0 science grade point average. Admission is based on the applicant’s academic record, including prior research experience, an essay and a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s faculty advisor or research supervisor.
