College of Mount Saint Vincent Appoints Dr. Guy Lometti as New Provost

President Charles L. Flynn, Jr. has announced that Dr. Guy E. Lometti will serve as the new Provost and Dean of Faculty of the College.
A well-published scholar, Dr. Lometti earned his B.A. at the Citadel, M.A. at Queens College, and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin. He joins Mount Saint Vincent following a distinguished career in both higher education and business.
Formerly serving as Dean of the Graduate School at The College of New Rochelle, he had previously served as Founding Dean and Professor in the School of Communication and The Arts at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also was a Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina.
“I am delighted to announce Dr. Lometti’s appointment as Provost/Dean of Faculty,” said President Flynn. He is a gifted educator and academic leader. He is highly respected by faculty, colleagues, and peers. I am confident he will provide great leadership for the Mount as our new Provost.”
Dr. Lometti worked as Supervisor, Social Research, for ABC Companies (1980 – 83); Manager, Capital Cities/ ABC, Inc. (1983 – 1986); and Associate Director, Social Research, ABC Television Network Group (1986 – 1990).
Dr. Flynn noted that Dr. Lometti’s appointment resulted from a highly competitive national search that drew an outstanding pool of candidates. “My thanks to all the members of the search committee and Dianna Dale, Vice-President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students, its Chair, for a well-conducted search resulting in many strong finalists.”
President Flynn added, “Dr. Lometti brings important strengths to the Mount. The position is a new one for the College. The Provost will respond to the needs of the deans, department heads and chairs, and faculty. He will address other areas of campus and the President’s Office to support and advance the quality of the College. Dr. Lometti’s strong academic background and business acumen are well-suited to this position.”
On a daily basis, the Provost’s Office will oversee faculty and staff personnel concerns including recruitment, promotion and tenure; budget requests and needs; academic programming initiatives; and faculty concerns. The Provost’s Office supports the efforts of the faculty and staff to ensure that the mission of the College, academic excellence, is achieved.
