3/25/2011

Riverdale, N.Y. — The University of Mount Saint Vincent will host a special Centennial Scholarship Tribute Dinner at the New York Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011. This event is an important fundraising tool for the College, as monies raised through the Dinner provide scholarship funds for talented and deserving students. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the charter amendment creating the University of Mount Saint Vincent.

The College is pleased to honor Deryck A. Palmer, co-chairman of the financial restructuring department at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, and Carmen J. Lawrence, co-head of the securities enforcement and regulation practice and a litigation partner resident in Fried Frank’s New York office. Scholarship Tribute Dinner honorees are recognized for their business acumen, commitment to education and support of the College’s mission.

Mr. Palmer’s practice at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP is concentrated in the representation of debtors, as well as creditors, under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. Recognized by Turnarounds and Workouts as one of the nation’s top “Outstanding Bankruptcy Lawyers,” Mr. Palmer is active in the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.

In addition to serving on the College’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Palmer is also a Trustee at Syracuse University and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. He is a member of the Bureau of National Affairs Advisory Board for the Bankruptcy Law Reporter and sits on the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc., Insol International, Greater New York Councils Boy Scouts of America and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Ms. Lawrence’s practice focuses on representing parties in investigations and litigations conducted primarily by the Securities and Exchange Commission, self-regulatory organizations and state securities regulators, conducting internal investigations, providing crisis management advice to public and private companies and counseling public companies and regulated entities on their obligations under the federal securities laws.

Ms. Lawrence was previously regional director for the SEC’s Northeast Regional Office, where she oversaw all enforcement and regulatory operations in the SEC’s largest region. Some of the SEC’s most significant cases were brought by the Northeast Regional Office under Ms. Lawrence’s leadership.
