CMSV Hosts Annual Scholarship Tribute Dinner at the New York Public Library

Riverdale, N.Y. — The University of Mount Saint Vincent will host its annual Scholarship Tribute Dinner at the New York Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013. This event is important fundraising tools for the College, as monies raised through the Dinner provide scholarship funds for talented and deserving students.
The College is privileged to announce that the honorees for this event are David Walsh of Carmel, N.Y., president and chief executive officer of Amalgamated Life Insurance Company and CEO of ALICO Services Corporation, and his wife, artist and theater producer Alice Chebba Walsh. This year’s recipient of the Saint Vincent De Paul Award will be His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan, Archbishop Emeritus of New York. Scholarship Tribute Dinner honorees are recognized for their business acumen, commitment to education, and support of the College’s mission.
As president and CEO since 2008, Mr. Walsh has strategically reorganized Amalgamated Life Insurance Company to better serve working families, businesses, unions, and welfare funds. Mr. Walsh served as Executive Vice President and member of the Office of the President for SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co., Inc. He was the senior vice president and general counsel for Swiss Re America and superintendent and corporate counsel for Swiss Re Life and Health.
Mr. Walsh currently serves on the board of the Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Insurance Federation of New York, Life Insurance Council of New York, and is Executive Vice President of the Westchester-Putnam Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Alice Chebba Walsh is a mixed media artist, theater producer, and an art administrator who has worked for nonprofit theater companies, dance companies, performing arts centers, as well as in public broadcasting. She is also a public library trustee at the Mahopac Public Library, and is President of the Putnam County Libraries Association.
His Eminence, Edward Cardinal Egan was appointed Archbishop of New York by Pope John Paul II in 2000. Cardinal Egan has also lead as Bishop for the Diocese of Bridgeport and as Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar for Education of the Archdiocese of New York. Cardinal Egan is a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic University of America, Ave Maria School of Law, and Thomas More College. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of New York; Archdiocesan Healthcare of New York; and Saint Joseph Seminary and Saint John Neumann Seminary Residence and Hall in New York.
Last year, the College raised a record of more than $700,000 in scholarship funds through the Scholarship Tribute Dinner. Tickets for this event are still available here.
