College Assistance for Students, Universities Affected by Hurricane Katrina

9/8/2005

The University of Mount Saint Vincent expresses its deepest sympathy towards all those affected by Hurricane Katrina and is actively responding to the disaster. The College will assist students from the New York metropolitan area who have been displaced from their schools in the Gulf region. These students will be accepted to Mount Saint Vincent, and the College will provide them scholarship assistance appropriate to their needs. As these students’ home institutions are also facing unbearable burdens at this time, the College will send to each student’s college or university a substantial financial contribution. This arrangement will help students continue their education and allow their home institutions to begin to rebuild from their loss.

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire College community go out to all those affected by this disaster,” says President Charles Flynn. “As is consistent with the calling of our founding Sisters of Charity, Mount Saint Vincent will provide whatever measure of assistance we can to these students and their home institutions.”
