Mount Saint Vincent Hosts 104th Commencement Ceremony

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent held its 104th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. on the River Lawn of the College’s Riverdale campus. 432 students received their undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College.

The weekend began with a Baccalaureate Awards and Hooding Ceremony, Baccalaureate Mass, and a reception held on campus for undergraduate students and their families, on Friday, May 20. The Awards and Hooding Ceremony took place at 4:00 p.m. in Hayes Auditorium, Grace Center. The Baccalaureate Mass was held at 5:00 p.m. on the same day in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Founders Hall, for all graduates and their guests. Following the Mass, a reception took place in Smith Hall, located on the second floor of Founders Hall.

The master’s and accelerated nursing hooding ceremony took place on Saturday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m. in Smith Hall. This ceremony was for master’s and accelerated nursing students only.

Undergraduate College graduates assembled for the procession in Hayes Auditorium, Grace Center at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21. The procession was scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and the Commencement Ceremony was scheduled to begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Michael Capasso, General Director of the New York City Opera, delivered the address to graduates at the Commencement Ceremony. Mr. Capasso, an American opera impresario, was conferred an honorary Doctor of Arts degree. Additionally, the members of the Board of Trustees of the New York City Opera were recognized for their service and leadership, including Roy Niederhoffer, Chairman of the Board and Jeffrey Laikind, President of the Board.
