College of Mount Saint Vincent Professor Ron Scapp Recipient of Irby Award for Scholarship & Service in the Field of Ethnic Studies

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent is pleased to announce that Professor of Humanities and Teacher Education Dr. Ron Scapp is the 2012 recipient of the Charles C. Irby Award. The “Irby” is awarded in recognition of an individual’s contributions to scholarship and service in the field of Ethnic Studies. In addition, Dr. Scapp was elected president of the National Association for Ethnic Studies during its 40th Anniversary Conference in New Orleans April 6 and 7, 2012. Dr. Scapp is a noted educator and author and the founding director of the Graduate Program in Urban and Multicultural Education at the Mount.
