College of Mount Saint Vincent to Host Historic Egyptian Constituent Assembly POSTPONED

The University of Mount Saint Vincent is pleased to announce that it will host delegates from the Egyptian Constituent Assembly as they gain input from Egyptian expats living abroad in preparation for drafting a new Egyptian Constitution. This historic event, the first stop that the delegates will make in the United States, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 in Hayes Auditorium of the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
The panelists include: Dr. Ayman Nour, member of the Constitution Assembly and Party Chairman of Tomorrow’s Revolution; Professor Amr Abdel Hadi, Prime International Forum to Monitor and Combat Corruption and member of the Supreme Body of the Party for Tomorrow’s Revolution; Dr. Dawood Al Baz, Law Professor at Al-Azhar University; Dr. Sayed Bakry, Professor at Al-Azhar University, Dr. Safwat Al Bayad, head of the Anglican Communion in Egypt, and Mr. Nader Bakr, lead spokesman for Egypt’s Nour Party and member of the Nour Party’s Supreme Committee.
“The University of Mount Saint Vincent is deeply honored to host this historic event,” says President Charles L. Flynn, Jr. “For several years, the College has been working towards offering our students a study abroad program in Egypt. Last year, we hosted Youssef Zada, the Consul General of Egypt in New York, on campus to speak to our students about the significance of the Arab Spring, and recently, Abed Elkeshk, the Mount’s Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and CFO was honored as one of New York City’s most accomplished Arab Americans by the City Council, so hosting an event of such historic significance at the University of Mount Saint Vincent is both a major honor and a natural fit.”
This event will be televised live by three Arab language networks, broadcast live via Internet, and will be open to the public. Egyptian expats living in the Tri-State area are especially encouraged to attend. This open debate will be the first of its kind in the history of Egypt and for Egyptian expatriates.
