Distinguished Alumnae/i Receive Ad Laudem Dei Awards

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent is proud to recognize three exceptional alumnae/i at the upcoming Ad Laudem Dei awards ceremony: Dale Avella Masi ’51, V. Andrea Parodi ’72, and Endy Rodriguez ’03. 

Ad Laudem Dei awards are presented annually to graduates of the College who have led business or professional lives of national significance, and who best exemplify the Mount’s mission of service as an integral part of the whole person. The ceremony, a highlight of the Mount’s 2018 Reunion and Homecoming Weekend, will take place on Saturday, October 20.

Dale Avella Masi, Ph.D., LCSW-C, CEAP, is the founder, president, and CEO of Masi Research Consultants, Inc. (MASI). Founded in 1984, MASI assists organizations across the globe with planning, designing, and evaluating Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and Work/Life programs. Dr. Masi is professor emerita at the University of Maryland, where she taught for 22 years and directed the EAP Sub-Specialization program. Starting with her first client, IBM, she has created effective systems to assist employees in private sector multinational corporations, including Pfizer, Merrill Lynch, and Toyota, as well as public sector giants including the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Postal Service, the United States Senate, and the United States House of Representatives. A Fulbright Scholar, she holds a doctorate from the Catholic University of America.

V. Andrea Parodi, Ph.D. is a pioneer in technology, nursing care, and teaching. Her 26-year career in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps has fueled her passion for patient safety, innovation, and scholarly inquiry, allowing her to produce solutions for preserving the health and well-being of the United States Armed Forces. Dr. Parodi is currently a research associate professor at Old Dominion University and applies considerable knowledge and expertise in her new role directing the Navy’s TeamSTEPPS. Using the principles of simulation and game-based guided tutorials, she and her team have developed an innovative computer-based training program, allowing clinicians to safely master trauma-room skills with no risk to live patients. This lifesaving project strives to reduce preventable medical errors that kill hundreds of thousands of patients annually. She holds a doctorate from the UAB School of Nursing.

In less than two decades, Endy Rodriguez has risen from college intern to vice president of news at Telemundo 47, a division of NBC Telemundo, the leading provider of Spanish-language content in more than 100 countries. Under his leadership, Telemundo 47 has made history by sourcing the region’s highest rated late news program, regardless of language. In his position as vice president, Mr. Rodriguez ensures the integrity of his station, curating news for millions of viewers in the nation’s largest media market, while advocating for the New York Tri-State area’s Spanish-speaking communities. Additionally, in recognizing the station’s capacity for service to others, he has coordinated resources to launch initiatives such as “Rompe el Silencio,” which assists victims of domestic violence. His notable work, journalism, and storytelling has been recognized with 12 New York Emmy Awards.

Ad Laudem Dei awards are presented to industry leaders who have made lasting contributions to the areas of economics, business, government, medicine, science, arts, humanities, religion, and education. Recipients embody the spirit of charity synonymous with the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s mission.
