Dr. Ron Scapp Elected Interim President of National Association for Ethnic Studies

Riverdale, N.Y. – University of Mount Saint Vincent Professor of Teacher Education Ron Scapp was recently elected interim president of the National Association for Ethnic Studies.

Dr. Scapp is the founding director of the Graduate Program in Urban and Multicultural Education at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, and a noted educator in the field of urban and multicultural education.

Dr. Scapp is also a fellow at the National Education Policy Center at The University of Colorado, Boulder, and a senior associate of The Urban Educators Forum in New York City.

The author of several books, he is currently working on books about metaphor and teaching (co-edited with Kenneth Saltman), class and capitalism (co-edited with Brian Seitz), and a monograph on urban culture.

The purpose of the National Association for Ethnic Studies is the promotion of activities and scholarship in the field of ethnic studies. The Board of Directors includes scholars and professionals from several disciplines. Open to any person or institution, NAES serves as a forum to its members for promoting research, study, curriculum design, and publications.
