Irish Ambassador to Celebrate the College of Mount Saint Vincent

Sixty-five alumni and friends of the College attend a reception hosted by Noel Fahey, the Republic of Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, in celebration of the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday January 9, 2006 at the Irish Embassy in Washington D.C.

According to Lenore Mott, Vice President for Advancement and College Relations, “the University of Mount Saint Vincent has numerous ties to, and great respect for the Irish American community.  We are truly delighted to be recognized by Ambassador Fahey at this exciting time.” In 2005 the College’s quality and caliber were acknowledged in several ways, among them, the College achieved record setting enrollment, earned top tier ranking in U.S. and World Report’s annual survey of America’s Best Colleges, was included in the Princeton Review’s Best Northeastern Colleges, began participating in prestigious fellowship programs, and was awarded for its campus activities and student life initiatives.

Additionally, the University of Mount Saint Vincent is in the midst of a successful fundraising effort, Building Our Future: The Capital Campaign.   The campaign will allow the college to build additional residence halls, provide state of the art information technology resources and upgrade science and nursing laboratories.

The Building Our Furture campaign will also create additional endowed scholarships, enabling the College to continue its tradition of supporting first and second generation college students.  Mott, who arranged the Embassy event with the assistance of Thomas J. Moran, President and CEO of Mutual America, says “The University of Mount Saint Vincent is proud of its history as the college of choice for so many Irish-American students, many of whom were among the first in their families to benefit from a college education, and the continuance of this legacy today.”
