Joan M. Squires Named Chair of the Board of Trustees

New Chair is one of three Alums joining the Board
Joan M. Squires has been elected Chair of the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Board of Trustees. Squires returns to the Board after a one year hiatus, having previously served as a Trustee from 1997-2005.
Squires is the Executive Vice President, Office of Technology at Mutual of America Life Insurance Company, where she manages all of the Company’s information technology and systems. She began her career with Mutual of America in the Administrative Services Division and has held management positions in a number of departments, including marketing and government reporting.
In addition to her responsibilities at Mutual of America, Squires is active in numerous civic and humanitarian organizations, such as the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Center, the American Cancer Society, Concern Worldwide and the United Way. She has served on the National Board of Directors of Girls, Inc., a national nonprofit youth organization, and she is a co-chair of the College’s Building Our Future Capital Campaign.
In addition to Squires’s appointment, two other alumnae of the College join the Board of Trustees, Sr. Mary Anne Cronin, S.C. and Sr. Margaret Dennehy, S.C.
Sr. Mary Anne Cronin, S.C. holds an MBA in Management and Finance. Now retired, Sr. Mary Anne was an internal auditor at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York. She has also served as Finance Officer for the SMA Fathers, a religious, not-for-profit organization in Tenafly, New Jersey and as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Sisters of Charity, New York. Sr. Mary Anne has a New York State Nursing Home Administrator license.
Sr. Margaret Dennehy, S.C., currently serves as a School Library Media Specialist at the St. Aloysius School in Harlem. She previously taught in several New York City Catholic schools, and held teaching positions at the Bank Street College of Education and Elizabeth Seton College. Sr. Margaret is a New York State certified teacher and school library media specialist. She has received an MS in Education from Hunter College and earned an MLS from St. John’s University.
